Il y a d’abord ses effluves du sud des Etats-Unis. Comme une ambiance soul chaude voire moite. Un groove de velours. Et des instruments du siècle dernier comme un bon vieux Wurlitzer… Dès la première écoute de Homemade Limonade, impossible de ne pas penser à Aretha Franklin, Joe Tex, Elvis, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ray Charles, Tony Joe White voire Neil Young. Plus près de nous, à Alabama Shakes, aux White Stripes, à Don Cavalli… Bref, l’ADN de Theo Lawrence & The Hearts n’est filtré à aucun édulcorant et on comprend aisément ce qui habite et anime ce jeune groupe à la dégaine musicale vintage. La surprise vient en fait de l’origine du Theo et de ses complices habités par une vraie fougue mêlant rock’n’roll, rhythm’n’blues, soul, blues et country : de Paris ! Avec leur premier album, ces gens de goût importent donc le bayou dans la capitale française en moins de deux riffs de guitare !
