Viji

Based in London, Austrian-Brazilian singer/songwriter Viji makes grunge-leaning indie pop with strong melodies and appealing lo-fi textures. Led by the 2020 single "Cherry," she released her debut EP, Are You in My Head, later that same year. Having split much of her youth between Austria and Brazil, Vanilla Jenner was exposed to a variety of music from her father, an instrument builder. Already a talented multi-instrumentalist, she focused on music production in college, basing herself in London where she subsequently landed a job at a high-profile recording studio. Meanwhile, she continued to develop her own gritty pop-driven songs under the name Viji and soon earned a contract with U.K. indie Dirty Hit Records. Released in 2020, her first single, "Cherry," revealed Viji's knack for hooky, laid-back fuzz-pop with a distinct '90s influence. The song anchored her debut EP, Are You in My Head, which came out later that year.
