Bloo

A singer and rapper from Korea, BLOO debuted his club-friendly, hook-heavy hip-hop on the Downtown Baby EP in 2017, eventually topping the South Korean singles chart with the title track. Following collaborations with the likes of Nafla and Loopy -- some of those as part of the MKIT RAIN collective -- his third EP, 2019's It's Not Love I'm Just Drunk became his third straight release to land in the Top 50. He released the single "Bloo Story" in 2021. Born Kim Hyeon-ung in La Crescenta, California in 1994, BLOO issued his first mixtape, the jazz-inflected Tony, in June 2016. That led to "Weatherman," the debut of MKIT RAIN, a collective and record label established by BLOO, Loopy, Nafla, Owen Ovadoz, and Young West. Following the solo singles "Better" and "Hennessy" and a featured spot on Rico's "Don't Talk to Me" in 2017, BLOO issued his debut EP, Downtown Baby, in December. It cracked the Korean Top 40. MKIT RAIN released the full-length Public Enemy in mid-2018 before BLOO delivered another EP, BLOO IN WONDERLAND that November. Featuring appearances by Niahn and Nafla, the latter peaked at number 39 on the album chart. The EP It's Not Love I'm Just Drunk followed in September 2019. That year also saw the release of the non-album singles "NBA" (with Loopy and Nafla) and "Candle" (with XBF). MKIT RAIN returned with the track "Businessmen" in 2020. That year, the title track to BLOO's debut EP, "Downtown Baby," went to the top of the Korean singles chart thanks to a shout-out from K-pop star and TV personality Lee Hyo-ri on MBC. He followed up with two-track "Bloo Story"/"Get Money I Love It" in early 2021.
