Ashes Remain
An American modern rock quintet that incorporates elements of post-grunge, post-hardcore, and soaring alt-rock into their faith-based oeuvre, Ashes Remain was formed in 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland by Josh Smith and Ryan Nalepa, who met at a summer youth camp. By 2003 the group had expanded into a five-piece with the additions of Rob Tahan, Jonathan Hively, and Ben Kirk, resulting in the independent release of their debut album, Lose the Alibis. Bassist Ogden left the group the following year, and was replaced by Jon Hively, who made his studio debut on 2007's Last Day Breathing. An EP, Red Devotion, arrived in 2009, and in 2010 the band inked a deal Tennessee-based CCM label Fair Trade Services, which released their third full-length outing, 2011's What I've Become. A holiday-themed EP dropped the following year, with Let the Light In, the group's first outing for Tooth & Nail imprint BEC Recordings, arriving in 2017.
