Alice Caymmi

Alice Caymmi, born Alice Malaguti Caymmi on March 17, 1990, in Rio de Janeiro, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. Carrying the legacy of her legendary grandfather, Dorival Caymmi, she grew up in a family deeply rooted in music, being the daughter of Danilo and Simone Caymmi, and niece to Nana and Dori Caymmi. Initially pursuing law, she soon found her calling in music and studied performing arts at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Her musical journey took off at the age of 12, featuring in her aunt Nana's album on the track "Seus Olhos," marking the beginning of her professional career. Alice's talent shone early, leading her to perform at significant events like the closing ceremony of the 2007 Pan American Games alongside her father. In 2012, Alice Caymmi released her self-titled studio debut via Kuarup and Sony Music. The album included mainly original work and two covers, one by her grandfather and another one by Björk. Her second album, Rainha dos Raios, followed in 2014, featuring mostly cover versions. "Como Vês," one of the tracks from the album, was featured in the Rede Globo miniseries Felizes para Sempre. Her third studio outing, Alice, released in January 2018, introduced the single "Inocente," co-written with Ana Carolina. The album was a testament to her evolving sound and was followed by Electra in May 2019, a deeply intimate project with all songs accompanied solely by piano. Her career continued with the release of Imaculada in October 2021, her fifth LP, which featured nearly all new songs. In 2022, Alice Caymmi issued the collaborative single "Do Acaso," featuring singer-songwriter Chico César. That year, she celebrated her tenth anniversary in the music industry with the release of the live album Alice 10 Anos (Ao Vivo).
