Quentin Tarantino hat schon in vielen seiner Filme die Musik des legendären Komponisten Ennio Morricone eingesetzt. Erst für seinen achten Streifen The Hateful Eight schaffte Tarantino aber, was er schon immer wollte: Der mittlerweile 87-jährige Morricone komponierte den gesamten Filmscore für ihn. Das Soundtrack-Album des blutigen Films über eine Gruppe von Schurken, die während eines Blizzards in einer Hütte eingesperrt sind, ist deswegen keine so bunte Mischung wie die bisherigen Tarantino-Soundtracks – ein Großteil der Platte konzentriert sich auf die eisigen, dramatischen Themen von Morricone, nur hier und da sind Songs von anderen Musikern eingeflochten (darunter "Apple Blossom" von den White Stripes und "There Won't Be Many Coming Home" von Roy Orbison). Dafür sind wie gehabt zwischen den Stücken vereinzelte Dialogpassagen zu hören.
