Yui Makino

Yui Makino is a Japanese actress, voice actress, singer, and pianist. She was born on January 19, 1986, in the Mie Prefecture. Yui began playing piano at age 4 and was discovered by film director Shunji Iwai, who featured her piano solos on the films Love Letter (1995), All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001), and Hana and Alice (2004). "Omna Magni," her first single, saw the light in 2005 and was used as the ending theme song for the anime series Sousei no Aquarion. Later that year, she made her voice acting debut as Sakura in the anime Tsubasa Chronicle, also appearing in the series' soundtrack. Since then, she has gone on to provide voices for several popular anime series such as Aria the Natural (2006), Welcome to the NHK! (2006), and PriPara (2015). Outside of acting, Yui Makino has established herself as an accomplished singer-songwriter with the commercially acclaimed studio albums Tenkyū no Ongaku (2006), Makino Yui (2008), Holography (2011), and Tabinooto (2015). Released in 2022, her mini-album Anata to Watashi wo Tsunagumono peaked at Number 69 on the Billboard Japan Albums chart.
