Watery Love

Bashing out blunt, distorted, and deliberately primitive hardcore punk, Watery Love are a four-piece from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who demonstrate there are plenty of bad vibes to be found in the City of Brotherly Love. Watery Love were formed in 2009 by vocalist and guitarist Richie Charles (ex-Clockcleaner), guitarist Max Milgram, bassist Dan DiMaggio (formerly with Home Blitz), and drummer Meg Baird (also a member of Espers). Watery Love's tough, cranky sound earned them a reputation on the Philly punk scene despite (or perhaps because of) their lack of enthusiasm for playing out of town, and they released their debut 7", "I'm a Skull" b/w "All Night Long," on Richie Records in 2009. Word of the band spread to Australia, and the Brisbane-based Negative Guest List Records put out their second single, "New Kind of Kick" b/w "A Condom," in 2011. The noted indie label Siltbreeze Records released Watery Love's third effort in 2013, another 7" single featuring the tunes "Die with Dignity" and "Leave Me Alone." By the end of 2013, Meg Baird had left Watery Love, and the band recruited a new drummer, Ben Leaphart, who also played drums with Birds of Maya. Despite the new lineup, Baird appeared on the 2014 single "Sick People" b/w "I Don't Care," released by In the Red Records, as well as the band's first full-length album, Decorative Feeding, which arrived in stores a few months later.
