Viletones

The Canadian rock group known as the Viletones formed in the '70s and did a mix of music that combined alternative pop/rock with a little punk. Original members were lead singer and songwriter Steve Leckie, guitarist Freddie Pompeii, bassist Chris Hate, and a drummer called Motor X. Later, Leckie replaced his bandmates with guitarist Steve Koch, bassist Sam Ferrara, and drummer Tony Vincent. During the late '70s and early '80s, the band released one EP, Look Back in Anger, and two albums, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning and Live at Max's. These recordings would be reissued in the '90s. In 1996, with Leckie and his new lineup, the Viletones finished work on a new album, Taste of Honey, under the Other People's Records label. Some of the tracks from the full-length offering include "Never Feel Sad," "Does She Jump," "Won't You Let Me," "Little Girl," "Dog Style," and "Rebel." Two years later, Leckie went solo with the album What It Feels Like to Kill.
