Ty Brasel
Ty Brasel is a Dove Award-nominated artist whose motivational, faith-based songs combine hip-hop, hook-driven pop, and R&B elements. Emerging in 2017, Brasel found mainstream success with the release of his 2018 sophomore effort, Destined for Greatness, and continued to refine his inspirational hip-hop style on subsequent releases Divine Storm (2020) and Transcendent (2022).
Raised on the outskirts of Memphis, Tennessee, Brasel spent his formative years absorbing the city's rich musical traditions of soul, blues, Southern rap, and gospel. A difficult period of crime and substance abuse nearly derailed the budding artist, but he persevered, and his autobiographical songs detail his fall from and return to grace. Looking to God and artists like Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone for inspiration, Brasel issued his independent debut, Young T, in 2017. He partnered with IVAV, a Curb Word Entertainment imprint, ahead of the release of 2018's Destined for Greatness. 2020's Divine Storm, issued during the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, offered a message of peace and hope, as did the 2021 mixtape Destiny, Vol. 1. Brasel enlisted Grammy- and Dove Award-winning producers Dirty Rice, Joseph Prielozny, and JuiceBangers to helm his fourth long-player. Arriving in 2022, the dynamic Transcendent included appearances by Jay-Way, the WRLDFMS Tony Williams, Aaron Cole, Foggieraw, and Parris Chariz.
