Two Inch Astronaut

Formed in 2009 in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Colesville, Maryland, Two Inch Astronaut are a post-punk trio with a sound that recalls classic Dischord Records bands like Fugazi and Jawbox. Blending strong vocals and crafty, intricate musicianship, bandmembers Sam Rosenberg (vocals/guitar), Daniel Pouridas (bass), and Matt Gatwood (drums) made their debut in September 2010 with the Slip Disco EP, followed a year and a half later by another EP, Red Pancake and Dark Energy. Showing more than a little pop influence, their intelligent songs often boast hooky, melodic choruses amid the angular riffs and shifting rhythms. A split 7" arrived in late 2012, and in the summer of 2013 they delivered their first full-length LP, Bad Brother, earning plenty of critical praise. Dialing in their sound even further, they followed it up just a year later with their second album, Foulbrood. Pouridas left the band in 2016, and Andy Chervenak became Two Inch Astronaut's new bassist, debuting on the album Personal Life. The LP was produced by J. Robbins of Jawbox, who was also behind the controls for their next effort, 2017's Can You Please Not Help.
