State of Deceit
Uniting the most aggressive aspects of thrash, groove, and metalcore, South Wales' State of Deceit combine mosh pit-inducing sonic firepower with lyrics that address social, political, and mental health issues. After attaining regional success, they inked a deal with Eclipse Records and released their international debut long-player, Stalked By Demons, in 2023.
Founded by rhythm guitarist Jonathan Russell, the band coalesced in 2018 around a lineup consisting of Russell, vocalist Peter Scammell, lead guitarist Gareth Jones, bassist Davide Santini, and drummer Matthew Toner. Citing Trivium, Pantera, Fit for a King, Machine Head, and Killswitch Engage as influences, State of Deceit debuted their hard-hitting blend of old-school thrash and groove-heavy hardcore on the 2019 EP Retribution. Forced off the road by the COVID-19 pandemic, the group poured all their creative energy into crafting their full-length debut. Bruising, anthemic, and uncompromising, the resulting Eclipse-issued Stalked By Demons appeared in 2023.
