Spread Eagle
Spread Eagle was formed in New York City by vocalist Ray West, guitarist Paul DiBartolo, bassist Rob DeLuca, and drummer Tommi Gallo. The band's songs observed the hard rock conventions of, say, Guns N' Roses (including the exploitation of subjects culled from seedy urban decay), but carried a lethal metallic edge to boot. Signing to MCA was their first and last mistake -- the label having a deplorable track record when it came to hard rock and metal. Sure enough, the band's first 1990 self-titled album, as well as 1993's follow-up Open to the Public, received little promotion and bombed with fans. The bandmembers went their separate ways soon after.
