San E

San E is the stage name of South Korean rapper Jung San, who was born in Bupyeong, Incheon, on January 23, 1985. His family moved to America during his adolescence and settled in Atlanta, Georgia. Years later, he returned home to launch his rap career in South Korea, where he earned a Top 10 hit in 2010 with "LoveSick," a track from his debut EP Everybody Ready? Released by JYP Entertainment, Everybody Ready? was followed by 2013's 'Not' Based on the True Story, which peaked at Number 27 on the Gaon Album Chart. The EP included his first Number 1 hit, "Story Of Someone I Know," as well as the Top 10 singles "Where Did You Sleep?" and "Break-Up Dinner." One year later, he duetted with After School's Rainia on "A Midsummer Night's Sweetness," which became his second chart-topping hit in South Korea and won the Gaon Chart K-Pop Award for "Song of the Year." That same year, he scored a third Number 1 single with 2014's "Body Language." This success helped set the stage for his debut album The Boy Who Cried Wolf, which arrived in 2015 and included the Number 2 hit "Me You." His third EP, Season of Suffering, was released in 2017, but San E also continued landing hits with non-album singles, too, with "Mohae" climbing to Number 5 in 2017. He later teamed up with Rainia once again, revising the pair's award-winning duet with a new recording, "A Midsummer Night's Sweetness: Summer Again," in 2021.
