Reuben Vincent

Charlotte, North Carolina-based rapper Reuben Vincent makes smart, socially conscious, and lyrically driven rap. He hustled hard on a local level through his youth, touring with Bas and Rapsody and working with 9th Wonder before signing to Roc Nation for the release of his 2023 album Love Is War. Born in 2000, Vincent started making music in his early teens, releasing his debut mixtape, IDOLescent, under the name Esau when he was just 13. Although his early work still had room for improvement, Vincent would continuously promote it online, which eventually paid off after producer 9th Wonder clicked a link and liked what he heard. As a result, he was invited to 9th Wonder's studio to record a few tracks, including a guest spot on the Murs track "The Shutters." Shortly after that, he was signed to 9th Wonder's label, Jamla Records, where he issued his first two albums, 2017's Myers Park and 2020's Boy Meets World. This led to a joint signing with Roc Nation, which released his third LP, Love Is War, in 2023. Vincent's Roc Nation debut included production from 9th Wonder, Young Guru, and Vincent himself, and found a modernized approach to classic boom-bap hip-hop.
