Liz Lawrence

London-based singer/songwriter Liz Lawrence trades in bright and breezy acoustic pop, leaning into autobiographical lyrics with stark honesty. Lawrence played in various punk and ska bands in her youth, before shifting into solo work. Relying on her voice, her guitar, and some well-placed piano, Lawrence released her debut album, Bedroom Hero, in 2012. The record was followed by two EPs, the former live recordings and the latter titled Health and Safety. Lawrence was good friends with Bombay Bicycle Club, joining them on their 2015 tour. Shortly afterward, she formed electro-pop duo Cash+David alongside Tim Ross. Together they released two EPs that essentially made and an album, 2016's Side I and Side II. Lawrence took a short break from music for a couple of years, resurfacing in 2018 with two new solo singles, "The Good Part" and "Woman," both produced by Bombay Bicycle's Jack Steadman. The tracks preceded her second full-length album, 2019's Pity Party, which saw release through Second Breakfast Records and featured the single "Navigator." After the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lawrence retreated into "The Coffin," her home studio operating out of her garden shed, where she wrote, recorded, and produced her third album, 2021's The Avalanche.
