Jair Rodriguez
Jair Rodriguez is a singer/songwriter, producer, and recording artist from Mexico. Not to be confused with the legendary Brazilian cantor of the same name, Rodriguez writes and records electro, Latin pop, and hip-hop. Since self-issuing his debut long-player Electricidad in 2018, Rodriguez has been prolific: He released three subsequent albums including 2019's X and 2020's Glitch.
Rodriguez was born in Monterrey in Nuevo Leon. Though he did not grow up in a musical household, his grandfather was obsessed with folk music and collected many instruments. For Rodriguez's 13th birthday, he gifted him a guitar. Rodriguez taught himself to play and also took piano lessons and began to learn about the digital production and recording processes. His debut five-track EP Tell Me was self-released in 2017, followed by a trio of singles: "Ritmo," "Enigma," and "Contigo." 2018 saw the release of the long-playing Electricidad and its single "Mena." Rather than form a band to tour, Rodriguez returned to the woodshed to write. He penned more than 60 songs and released 50 of them on three albums that year: A Todo Cambio, Renacer (plus a deluxe version with bonus material), and X. Each drew positive critical notice from local and regional publications. In 2020, Rodriguez released the 16-track set Glitch, plus a giveaway EP of tracks drawn from Electricidad, offering loyal fans proof of his musical progress.
