J3
A contemporary instrumental trio, J3 features three rising prodigies whose skill and maturity belie their youth. The group debuted in 2022 with J-Who, showcasing their genre-defying mix of jazz, funk, pop, gospel, and R&B.
Formed in 2022, J3 features guitarist/keyboardist Justin-Lee Schultz, drummer Jamie-Leigh Schultz, and bassist Jaden Baker. The Schultz siblings grew up in South Africa, where they excelled at music from a young age. They both started playing music around age five and eventually joined their dad, guitarist Julian Schultz, in a family band. Around 2015, they moved to the United States, where they continued to hone their skills, sharing the stage with such luminaries as Steve Vai, Jacob Collier, Corey Henry, and others. Similarly, bassist Baker grew up in Dallas, Texas, where he also garnered attention from a young age, mentoring with bassist Derrick Hodge and performing with Israel Houghton and others. The trio eventually met and began making music, drawing upon their shared love of artists like Chick Corea, George Benson, Michael Jackson, among others. In 2022, they released their debut album, J-Who.
