Garry Christian

b. Garrison Christian, 27 February 1955, Merseyside, England. The lead singer of fraternal soul/harmony unit the Christians, Garry Christian launched his solo career in 1997 shortly after the official announcement of his former band’s break-up. The Christians had actually split two years previously, with Garry spending two years recuperating in Paris. Your Cool Mystery was released on Coalition Records (formerly PWL Records) as part of a three-album contract. The songs were written in collaboration with programmer and keyboard player Andy Wright. The final 10 songs selected for the debut ranged in musical tone from gospel harmony (‘Cry’) to AOR rock (‘Caged Bird’). Your Cool Mystery was promoted with the release of a single, ‘Still Come Back To Me’, in preference to the more anthemic, and obviously Christians-sounding, ‘Rise’. However, one of the tracks on the single, ‘Smells Like Murder’, was remixed by his former Christians team-mates, now known as Dog Productions. Christian reunited with Henry Priestman and Russell Christian in 1999 to revive the Christians name. A series of live performances followed during the early years of the twenty-first century, before the band completed work on a new studio album, Prodigal Sons. Following a tour to promote the album, Garry Christian returned to the studio to complete work on his second solo collection, How Does It Feel... .
