Emy Bernecoli

Emy Bernecoli counts early music among her studies, interests, and performances, and wrote a thesis on the Romantic era Paganini's Le Streghe, but her recitals in the 2010s and her first recordings demonstrate her emergence as a specialist in 20th century Italian violin music. Bernecoli earned her soloist's degree in Brescia in 2006, working with Domenico Nordio after lessons from Pavel Vernikov and Mariana Sirbu. She also studied Baroque repertoire with Alfonso Fedi in Florence, after which she worked in the ranks of several Italian Baroque ensembles. Further, Bernecoli received a diploma in chamber music in 2010 after studies with Rocco Filippini at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and with Alessandro Specchi at the Accademia Musicale in Florence. For all of that, Bernecoli is displaying an aptitude for rediscovering and editing 20th century works by Italian composers. Her 2013 debut solo album on Naxos included premier recordings of works by Giorgio Federico Ghedini. Her next two releases covered the music of Ottorino Respighi, for which she also edited some of the published scores. She has also edited concertinos by Fiorenzo Carpi and Antonio Puccetti for publication. As a former member of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Orchestra del Teatro Lirico 'G. Verdi', and other ensembles, Bernecoli has played a variety symphonic and opera works under several renowned conductors. She has performed chamber music with artists such as Luca Simoncini.
