Crystal Eyes

Crystal Eyes are a Canadian dream pop band that incorporates touches of psychedelia, shoegaze, and grunge muscle into their hazed-over sound. The band's earliest material was a combination of visceral live-in-the-studio performances and analog recording, and they explored expanded instrumentation and a wider spectrum of textures on their 2022 sophomore effort The Sweetness Restored. Crystal Eyes formed around the talent and drive of vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Erin Jenkins in the mid-2010s. Based out of Calgary, Alberta, Jenkins began working with a rotating cast of area musicians, and kept the revolving door model going as the band grew so that Crystal Eyes could tour and record minimal scheduling conflicts. An early demo-like release No Man Is an Island was released in 2015, which provided the first example of Crystal Eyes' unpolished, shoegaze-inspired dream pop sound. Jenkins and her bandmates worked with producer Chris Dadge for 2017's The Female Imagination, recorded to analog tape in Dadge's basement studio. In 2019, the band released a split single with Edmonton artist Marlaena Moore, and later that year traveled to Montreal where they recorded the material that would become their second album. Produced by Andrew Woods and mixed by Arcade Fire collaborator Mark Lawson, Crystal Eyes' sophomore album, The Sweetness Restored, was released on the Bobo Integral label in April of 2022.
