Chet Lam

Multiple award-winning Cantopop and city folk singer/songwriter Chet Lam was born on April 11, 1979 in Yau Ma Tai, Klowoon, Hong Kong. Chet Lam, who is the older brother of Cantopop singer Eman Lam, has been a professional performer since the age of 10. Lam has been writing songs since his college days and has built up a catalog of over 200 compositions, some of which he wrote for other artists. In 2003, he started his own LYFE Music label and also released his debut album, Pillow Songs. The album was a critical and commercial success. He released Travelogue 1, his second album later the same year. Lam received the Best New Artist Award at the Chinese Music Media Awards, and also earned him a Top Ten Album of the Year Award. The success of his 2003 releases solidified his standing as one of the best-selling artists in Hong Kong. An extremely prolific artist, Lam has continued to release a series of studio releases, live albums, and various special limited edition EPs. Throughout his career, most of his albums were sung in Cantonese, but he has also released albums in Mandarin and English. While he caused a minor controversy in 2005 when he admitted that he was gay, the revelation has not had a negative effect on his career. In 2012, Lam formed the label Seeing Creative and he used it to promote independent artists. In 2020, Lam released the album Born In Kowloon, which features “Eagles and Sparrows”, “Wheels of Fortune”, and “Kowloon City Blues”.
