Ben Miller

Similarly to the way Seasick Steve charmed the world with his ragged DIY blues, the Ben Miller Band stomped out a raucous tribute to all things Americana and bluegrass, delivering spirited, barnstorming hoedowns full of rootsy, good-time jams. First playing together at an open mic night in Joplin, Missouri, Ben Miller (vocals, guitar, banjo), Doug Dicharry (drums, washboard, trombone) and Scott Leper (bass) continued to bash away on washboards, bath tub bass and all manner of home-made instruments together and mixed their love of traditional Appalachian folk odes and jug band chaos with distorted covers of Black Betty and Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box. Constant touring honed their junkyard, ramshackle sound and eventually led to debut album Heavy Load (2012) and a deal with New West Records before the trio impressed Billy and landed a support slot with ZZ Top, playing huge arenas across Europe. Recorded by Jack White's producer Vance Powell, second album Any Way, Shape Or Form (2014) was another force of nature, all twanging, roaring Americana delivered with their distinctive "Ozark Stomp".
