Babbu Maan
Tejinder Maan (March 18, 1975), better known by his nickname Babbu, is an Indian singer, actor, and film producer who has starred in several Punjabi and Bollywood films. Raised in the village of Khant Maanpur, Babbu Maan made his debut in 1998 with the album Sajjan Rumal De Geya, followed by Tu Meri Miss India (1999), and Saaun Di Jhadi (2001), which featured the hits “Chan Chanani,” “Raat Guzarlayi,” “Dil Ta Pagal Hai,” “Ishq,” “Kabza,” and “Touch Wood.” In 2003, he scored his first original soundtrack for the movie Hawayein, collaborating closely with playback singers Sukhwinder Singh and Jaspinder Narula. 2005 marked the release of Pyaas, considered one of the best-selling Punjabi albums in history. His first Hindi album Mera Gham arrived in 2007, after which Babbu Maan recorded his first religious LP Singh Better Than King in 2009. In 2010, he won the category of Best International Artist at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards. Talaash: In Search Of Soul, his eighth full-length, was released in 2013 and made its way to the Top 10 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. In the subsequent years, Babbu Maan resumed his role as a pop singer on the albums Itihaas (2015) and Ik C Pagal (2018), and issued the singles “Dhuan” and “Barsaat” in 2021.
