Arlene Bishop

Born in Churchill, Manitoba, Arlene Bishop didn't begin performing publicly until 1989, after the sudden death of her boyfriend Roger Rainbow. Urged on by Colin Linden, Bishop performed in and around the Toronto circuit, gaining a loyal following and high praise from fans and critics alike. In 1996, Bishop released an EP, Pinky, which was followed up by Snarky Girlpop in 2001. Her music is listened to across North America on public radio stations and has been mentioned alongside Canadian rock stalwarts such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. Bishop brings a dark and witty style to her music, with quirky between-song banter often a highlight.
