Andrew Scott
A Canadian jazz guitarist and educator, Andrew Scott is a highly regarded performer with a warm tone and a style steeped in the swing and bop traditions. Born in 1979, Scott grew up in Toronto, where he attended Humber College. From there he earned his Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory and his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from York University. During the '90s, he was a member of the instrumental funk ensemble One Step Beyond, and later formed the Clayton/Scott Group with pianist Jim Clayton. Since 2005, he has been a member of the music faculty at Humber College. As a leader, Scott debuted with This One's for Barney in 2004, followed two years later by Blue Mercer. He then paired with trumpeter Jon-Erik Kellso and saxophonist Dan Block for 2009's Nostalgia. In 2017, he delivered the quartet album Brightest Minute.
