Brazil is internationally famous for many things, but its rich musical traditions and its continuing passion for soccer (or "football" as the rest of the world calls it) are among the foremost. As one of the key participants in Brazil's Tropicalia movement, Jorge Ben Jor has been a world-music icon since the 1960s. No surprise--he's also a football fan. FOOTBALL & SAMBA GROOVE ASSOCIATION brings together Ben Jor's numerous songs about the sport (including songs about football superstars Pele and Zico), and features plenty of the artist's infectious mix of samba, bossa nova, African groove, and Western pop. Some of Ben's signature, non-football-related tunes are thrown into the mix as well, making this disc an enjoyable, well-rounded compilation.
