Volt
Fusing garage punk's raw energy with aggressive electronic beats and synths, the Paris-based trio Volt (not to be confused with the German experimental metal trio by the same name) features Lili Z., Jack Volt, and FX. Jack and Lili played in the garage bands Splash Four and No-Talents from the mid-to-late '90s; FX played bass on Splash Four's last two singles and also appeared on the band's 1998 U.S. tour. The trio began recording and performing together as Volt in 2002, and released their self-titled debut EP at the end of that year. The group then spent a couple of years gigging in France and Germany and recording demos; Lili Z. also recorded a string of solo EPs, and the band appeared on a 2004 compilation released by In the Red. The following year, the label also released Volt's second self-titled EP. The band kept busy in 2006 by playing with like-minded acts such as the Intelligence and Duracell, and returned to the studio to record their first full-length, another self-titled effort that arrived in spring 2007.
