Sitkovetsky Trio

Langue disponible : anglais
The multinational Sitkovetsky Trio began performing at top venues around the world soon after its formation. On recordings, the group has been associated with the BIS label. When the trio formed in 2007, its members were students at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Britain. For some years, the group consisted of violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, and pianist Wu Qian; in 2019, cellist Isang Enders replaced Elschenbroich. The young trio snared a Junior Fellowship at London's Royal Academy of Music from 2008 to 2010, and that, plus honors such as the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award in 2008 and the NORDMETALL Chamber Music Award at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival the following year, quickly propelled their career to world-class status in the early 2010s. The Sitkovetsky Trio has appeared at major halls including Lincoln Center in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The group is especially commonly heard at chamber music festival including that of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival, and the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland. In addition to chamber music, the Sitkovetsky Trio has played triple concertos by Beethoven and Charlotte Bray, giving the world premiere of the latter work with the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2019. The trio has toured widely, making multiple trips to both the Americas and East Asia as well as performing in Britain and continental Europe. The Sitkovetsky Trio signed with the BIS label and released its debut album, featuring trios by Dvořák, Smetana, and Suk, in 2014. That year, their Wigmore Hall performance of Beethoven and Schubert trios appeared on the hall's Wigmore Hall Live label. The group has released two more albums on BIS, including, in 2020, the first in a cycle of Beethoven's piano trios; it included the rarely heard Piano Trio in B flat major, WoO 39.
