Rosalie Cunningham

An English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a theatrical vision and a formidable voice, Rosalie Cunningham fronted London goth-rockers Ipso Facto and vaudevillian psych-metallers Purson before embarking on a solo career in 2019 with the release of her eponymous debut. Three years later, she issued the dynamic and distinctive Two Piece Puzzle. The Southend-on-Sea native formed the all-female foursome Ipso Facto in 2007. The group's vintage style and compelling fusion of indie pop, garage rock, goth, and psychedelia helped earn them a devoted following. They released a handful of singles before calling it quits in 2009. Cunningham doubled down on the rock & roll pageantry with her next group, describing Purson's eclectic style as "vaudeville carny psych." Evoking names like Deep Purple, T. Rex, Ten Years After, and Dresden Dolls, the group released their debut album, The Circle and the Blue Door, in 2013 through Metal Blade. Purson relocated to Spinefarm for their sophomore outing, 2016's kaleidoscopic Desire's Magic Theatre, but ceased operations in early 2017. Two years later, Cunningham returned with her psych-rock, pop, and folk-forward eponymous debut solo album, which was released via Cherry Red. She issued her eclectic sophomore effort, Two Piece Puzzle, in 2022. Recorded with her partner Rosco Wilson during the Covid-19 lockdown, the LP covered a wide swath of sonic territory and featured contributions from Fairport Convention fiddler Ric Sanders.
