Popincourt
Popincourt is the performance nickname of Olivier Popincourt, a French singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who favors Brit-styled sophisti-pop in the vein of the Style Council. The musician began the project in France, where he played in and toured with a number of bands over several years before relocating to London, where he co-founded the U.K. quartet Les Hommes Responsables, a covers band with Philip King (Lush), Huw Jennings (Twister), and Andy Nix (Semion). Popincourt's eponymous debut EP appeared in early 2014 and counted strings, brass, guitars, piano, and percussion among its extensive palette. Produced by film composer Sébastien Souchois and mixed by Souchois and Ken Stringfellow of the Posies, both of whom also contributed performances, Popincourt's full-length debut, A New Dimension to Modern Love, was released by Jigsaw Records in June 2016.
