N-Joi
Comprising Essex, England-born ‘brothers of hardness’ Mark Franklin and Nigel Champion, N-Joi originally featured singer Saffron. Their five minutes of fame came in 1991 with ‘Adrenalin’ (on Deconstruction Records), an overwrought affair much admired by Liam Howlett of Prodigy. This was quickly followed by the UK Top 10 success of the re-released ‘Anthem’. They released a recording of their stage set, Live In Manchester, for the same label in February 1992, which lasted over 28 minutes and included over a dozen separate tunes in the mix. They followed up with a more conventional EP that included a Moby remix of their ‘Mindflux’ single for RCA Records in the USA. Saffron attempted a solo career with garage singles such as ‘One Love’ for WEA Records in 1992.
