Myler

From the deep, menacing atmospheric techno of 2011's debut EP Sub Missive to the industrial wallop of his 2017 release on Ansome and Ossian's S.L.A.M. label, Ireland's Dean Myler has always pushed his sound to the harder edge of the techno spectrum. Born and raised in Waterford, Ireland, Myler caught the dance music bug at an early age and, inspired by his father's love of deep house, he acquired his first set of decks at the age of 14. Drawn to the hard dance scene that had been growing in Ireland, Myler found himself DJ'ing at clubs across the country, but with the scene being small and niche, it wasn't long before he started to look elsewhere. With techno the perfect middle ground between the harder sound of dance and the progressiveness of deep house, Myler started to make a name for himself within the scene. Embarking on a sound engineering and music production course in 2009, he began to write his own material, with his debut released via Italian label Shout. A second release appeared on Tech Fu that same year. Over the next couple of years, Myler's profile expanded with releases on Kaputt, Fifth Wall, and Eklero, his sound also started to develop more. Bringing in harder edged sounds, Myler started to embrace the industrial sounds that had permeated the techno scene. Releases for Luke Creed's Variance, Martyn Hare's Emetic, and Untold's Pennyroyal, cemented his place as one of Ireland's more forward-thinking techno producers. As well as DJ'ing at some of Europe's biggest techno clubs, he also teamed up with Belfast techno crew DSNT as one of their regular DJs. Myler continued to produce, releasing tracks on Mindcut, EarToGround, and fellow noiseniks Ansome and Ossian's South London Analogue Material with 2017's Lord of the ASBO EP.
