Lydia Jardon, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Jean-Paul Penin
Lydia Jardon is a French pianist and producer. A graduate of the Paris Conservatoire and a recipient of the diploma from the École normale de musique in Paris, she has toured around the globe, appeared regularly at music festivals, and given master classes. She is the founder and artistic director of Women Musicians at Ushant, a week-long festival held on an island off the coast of Brittany, where artists concentrate on performing the music of women composers, such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Alma Mahler, Clara Schumann, Rebecca Clarke, and Cécile Chaminade. As an offshoot of the festival, Jardon founded her own record company, Ar Ré-Sé (which is Breton for "those women there"), a label devoted to promoting neglected compositions and producing the recordings of rising women musicians. A frequent guest on French radio and television, Jardon was the subject of a documentary on her work with the Ushant festival.
