Lag

Known for his forward-thinking DJ sets across the globe, producer, DJ, and promoter Lag also proved himself as a purveyor of broken industrial-tinged techno. From the tripped-out broken beats of 2013's Misfit EP to the psychedelics of 2018's Rutra, Lag became a leading light of the global techno scene. Serbian-born Miloš Martinov (aka Lag) grew up on a diet of punk before studying classical music. Looking for something fresh and different, Lag found himself immersed in techno, bringing with him his musical knowledge and the punk attitude he grew up with. First establishing himself as a DJ and then founding his own organization, 29524 (which hosted educational events and workshops in addition to club nights), Lag quickly became an in-demand DJ, playing a tough mix of experimental and hard-edged techno. His own productions quickly found the ear of long-term techno stalwart Bas Mooy, who signed Lag and issued two EPs -- 2013's Misfit and 2014's Fiend -- on his Mord label. Lag also found a home on Singularity Recordings with his Stutter EP. As Lag continued to focus on his DJ sets, London-based THEM delivered 2016's Unrest, while the following year he returned to Mord for his third EP for the label, All the Children Are Insane. In 2018, Lag teamed up with Rebekah for a split single (released on her Elements label), which saw the two producers delivering a track each and remixing each other.
