Hidden In Plain View

New Jersey post-hardcore group Hidden in Plain View emerged in the mid-2000s with a sound that blended emo intensity and aggressive playing with pop melodicism. After a series of EPs, they signed with Drive-Thru Records and released a pair of albums, 2005's Life in Dreaming and 2007's Resolution, before disbanding later that year. Reuniting in 2015 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their debut album, they also issued a new EP, Animal, and continued performing into the next decade. Hailing from Stanhope, New Jersey, the group formed in 2000 around core members Joe Reo (vocals), Rob Freeman (guitar, vocals), Kenny Ryan (guitar), and Chris Amato (bass). After early EPs like 2001's Find and 2002's Operation: Cut-Throat, they found a permanent drummer in Spencer Peterson. Now signed to the high-profile West Coast indie Drive-Thru Records, Hidden in Plain View brought in new guitarist Mike Saffert and released one more EP before making their full-length debut with 2005's Life in Dreaming. A period of heavy touring followed its release as the group joined the Warped Tour in the U.S., then toured Europe and Japan. Hidden in Plain View disbanded in January 2007 after completing sessions for their second full-length. Titled Resolution, the album was issued by Drive-Thru later that year. After a one-off reunion in 2013, Hidden in Plain View announced they were re-forming for a tenth anniversary tour of their first album in 2015. That same year, they released Animal, an EP of new material which appeared courtesy of Rise Records. The lineup of Reo, Freeman, Amato, Peterson, and Ryan continued to play together for the remainder of the decade. In 2020, Hidden in Plain View released the holiday single "Christmas Song."
