DVR

Dillon van Rensburg, known by his initials dvr, is a Scottish singer/songwriter known for creating lo-fi bedroom pop that mixes indie rock and rap. Aided by influential American producer Kenny Beats, his 2021 slacker anthem, "Lowlife," found viral success and later appeared on his 2022 EP, dirty tapes. Van Rensburg was just 16 when he self-released (tape_01), his 2020 debut EP. A blend of woozy, scuffed-up beats, low-key indie rock, and elements of both rap and R&B, the release brought the North Berwick native some streaming success, especially when he caught the attention of producer Kenny Beats who agreed to collaborate with him. Newly signed to XL Recordings, dvr returned in 2021 with "Lowlife," a catchy midtempo cut produced by Beats which was included on his 2022 EP, dirty tapes.
