Christopher Caouette

Christopher Caouette is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music is characterized by its cinematic sweep and lush fusion of new age, Celtic, fantasy, electronic, and progressive rock. The prolific artist has been active since the late '80s, recording for independent labels like Etherean and his own imprint, Inner Force. Throughout his career, Caouette has composed for film, stage, and video games, bringing his dynamic vision to each. Among his most popular releases are 2009's Alandar and 2022's award-winning Tale of the Oakenwish, both of which placed highly on the Zone Music Reporter charts. A native of Connecticut, Caouette began composing in the 1980s and released his first collection, The Farthest Reaches, in 1987. Citing influences that range from film composers like Hans Zimmer to new age icons like Vangelis and David Arkenstone, Caouette recorded independently throughout the '90s, merging fantasy themes with electronic music, worldbeat, Celtic, and various other styles. He signed with prominent Colorado-based new age imprint Etherean in the early 2000s and released albums like Ring of Dragons and Dragon Wind. After this, Caouette formed his own entity, Inner Life Force, to handle his prodigious output which included releases like 2009's Alandar, an album that reached number five on the new age-reporting Zone Music Charts and was shortlisted for that year's Best Neo-Classical and Electronic Album. Over the coming decade he composed scores for video and online games like Somnea and Island Defense while releasing further fantasy-inspired albums like 2013's Dream of the Four and 2018's Legends of the Chronicler. Caouette's 2022 collection, Tale of the Oakenwish, was another success. Along with reaching number two on the Zone Music chart it was named Best Virtual Soundtrack and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album from New Age Notes.
