BSS (SEVENTEEN)

A trio subset of South Korean boy band Seventeen, BSS offer up similarly effervescent takes on genre-sampling dance-pop. After releasing their debut single, "Just Do It," in 2018 as the inaugural Seventeen spinoff, it was five years before they returned with their first single-album, the Korean chart-topping Second Wind, in 2023. DK, Hoshi, and Seungkwan first performed their unreleased song "Just Do It" at a Seventeen fan event in February 2018. Although it was planned as a one-time performance, the positive response prompted the formation of BSS as the first sub-unit of Seventeen. The trio released a studio version of "Just Do It" as a single that March, and it made it into the lower regions of Korea's singles chart. They charted much higher, cracking the Top Five with their eventual follow-up single, February 2023's "Fighting" featuring Lee Young Ji. Meanwhile the single-album Second Wind, released concurrently on Pledis, debuted at number one on South Korea's album chart and in the Top Three in Japan.
