Alissa Griffith
Vocalist and songwriter Alissa Griffith spent most of her life in California before she moved to Nashville, and her music reflects the polish of West Coast pop as well as the down-to-earth lyrical perspective of contemporary country. Griffith's early work showed a strong country influence, while on later songs "Glasses" and "What I've Been Missin'," she embraced the pop side of her musical personality.
Alissa Griffith was born in Yorba Linda, California, a town best known for being the birthplace of President Richard Nixon. When she was young, Griffith's family relocated to nearby Anaheim, not far from Disneyland, and at an early age, Alissa became fascinated with the way music could reflect and shape people's emotions. She wrote her first song when she was 11 years old, and by 17 she was performing regularly and had signed a deal with a publishing house to handle her material. By the time she was old enough to buy a beer, Griffith was a seasoned veteran, having performed in venues all over Southern California, and given her fondness for country music, she decided the next step was to try her luck in Nashville.
At 21 she left California and made her way to Music City, and in November 2017 she released a Christian-themed track, "The Gospel According to Ellen." However, it was the second tune Griffith brought out that would bring her success; "Glasses" appeared in September 2018, and its richly crafted sound gained enough attention that it was played over 1.4 million times on one popular streaming service. Her third song, "This Is Love," became available only a month later. Griffith's next release, "Unfold," was a dance-friendly exercise in pop-country, and the following June, she came back with the more thoughtful and romantic "What I've Been Missin'."
