Premier album de Miss Dominique, Une Femme Battante est un bon cru, venant d’une chanteuse déjà blanchie sous le harnais.
Voix douce et chaude, l’ex-« Beth Sheba » y interprète treize titres, en anglais et en français, comprenant plusieurs standards soul et jazz comme « It's a Man's Man's World » (James Brown), ou « Calling You » (Jevetta Steele), chanson du film Bagdad Café, qui avait déjà constitué l’une de ses meilleures prestations lors de l'émission Nouvelle Star.
Se tirant haut la main des interprétations en anglais, Miss Dominique est légèrement en-dessous lors des chansons en français, où son accent un parfois peu nasillard – hérité de l’habitude du chant dans la langue de Shakespeare – peut indisposer. Sa richesse vocale finit cependant par emporter l’adhésion lors de titres comme « Doudou » ou « Les Moulins de mon cœur ». La chanson-titre, très technique et bien maîtrisée, conclut en beauté un premier opus très convaincant.
