Présenté par Renaud Machart, le biographe français de John Adams, comme étant un avatar parfait du genre "docu-opéra", parce qu'il prélève les mythologies éternelles dans l'histoire contemporaine, l'opéra relate le voyage historique du président Richard Nixon en Chine sur un livret d'Alice Goodman, dont les vers qui semblent être "un condensé incantatoire de l'expérience américaine, et son Richard Nixon est le président "Monsieur Tout-le-monde" : banal, pathétique, sentimental, paranoïaque." Lors de la création française en 1990, la presse est partagée entre les contre (C'est le degré zéro de la musique. Une sorte de produit typiquement américain, comme le Coca-Cola) ou dithyrambique (John Adams vu comme "sauveur de la musique contemporaine"). Dans la peau de Debussy : le chemin de croix vers l’Opéra-Comique

Automne 1895 : Claude Debussy a fini d’écrire “Pelléas et Mélisande”. Il reste maintenant à créer cet opéra révolutionnaire sur les planches. Mais lesquelles ? Ce seront finalement celles de l’Opéra-Comique. Mais entre reports, retards et leçons de piano – pour s’assurer un maigre revenu –, la transposition sur scène fut un long chemin de croix pour Debussy. Episode 2.

Le grand chef d’orchestre néerlandais nous a quittés le 21 octobre 2021 à l’âge vénérable de 92 ans. Reconnu par ses pairs et dans son pays dès sa jeunesse, Bernard Haitink accomplira la majeure partie de son immense carrière aux Pays-Bas, d’abord à la tête de l’Orchestre de la Radio néerlandaise puis du prestigieux Concertgebouw d’Amsterdam pendant vingt-sept ans, avec lequel il enregistrera de nombreux disques devenus légendaires.
