Saxophonist Sam Levine has made a name for himself as both a session man for the likes of Whitney Houston and Michael McDonald and as a solo artist in the smooth jazz genre. On DIXIELAND JAZZ, however, Levine takes a stroll down memory lane with a rousing set of classic Dixieland tunes. With help from guitarist Jack Jezzro, Levine samples Dixieland favorites like “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home,” “Darktown Strutters Ball,” and “Muskrat Ramble,” among others, but the whole set bursts with rousing old-time jazz energy.
