Les spectacles de Barbara furent des moments magiques, de grandes messes inoubliables. Ils ont laissé aux personnes qui ont eu la chance d'y assister des souvenirs éblouis. Après coup, et en apprenant les difficultés de santé de la chanteuse, on a pu comprendre pourquoi au cours de certaines représentations, sur la fin, Barbara avançait avec des difficultés dans la voix qu'elle masquait en semblant parfois commencer les rappels à la troisième chanson...
Toujours est-il que chanter Barbara sur scène n'est pas anodin, tant Barbara était superlative sur scène — son image devrait être taboue. Le génial Gérard Depardieu a rendu il y a quelques mois au Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord à Paris l'impossible miraculeux. Il n'interprète pas, il témoigne. Il cite des extraits des écrits de Barbara en présentation de chaque chanson. Et Depardieu chante — oui, chante.
C'est Barbara la chanteuse, la femme qu'il a connue, et ses chansons, ensemble, qu'il projette sur scène avec une force d'amour, de conviction, d'affection, absolument bouleversante. Le récital des Bouffes du Nord fut sidérant, on en est sorti K.O. et c'est ce moment de vie étonnant que cet album retraduit.
