Après le succès de Riot! en 2007, les membres de Paramore rencontrent certaines difficultés internes car les médias réservent la plupart de leur couverture à la chanteuse Hayley Williams. Plutôt que de jeter l'éponge, les musiciens se concentrent sur le travail en studio, et sortent Brand New Eyes sur lequel Paramore apparaît plus fort, plus essentiel et dans l'ensemble plus cohérent. L'interaction entre les guitares de Josh Farro et Taylor York est d'avantage mise en avant et le batteur Zac Farro consolide le groupe avec des rafales de caisse claire et des coups de cymbales. Mais le véritable clou du spectacle, c'est Mlle Williams, qui chante avec tout l'engouement d'une Ann Wilson angoissée du XXIe siècle. Brand New Eyes est l'album le plus crédible du groupe, un mélange de mélodie et de muscles qui dégage de l'énergie malgré ses origines tumultueuses.
