Flavour N’Abania

Flavour is a Nigerian songwriter whose multilingual mix of Ibgo highlife, Afrobeat, dancehall, and hip-hop made him a star throughout Africa during the 2010s. Born Chinedu Okoli on November 23, 1983, he grew up in Enugu, where he launched his career as a drummer, pianist, and backup vocalist during his teenage years. He later adopted the stage name of Flavour N'abania and released his debut album as a solo artist, N'abania, in 2005, followed by Uplifted in 2010. Uplifted was a significant hit throughout Nigera and other African countries, thanks to singles like "Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)," "Adamma," and "Oyi (I Dey Catch Cold)." Blessed followed in 2012, earning a Nigerian Entertainment Awards nomination for Best Album of the Year and yielding another handful of charting singles, including "Kwarikwa (Remix)" and "Ada Ada." Flavour wrote 21 songs for his next release, 2014's Thankful, and recorded them with a number of Nigerian guest artists, including Chidinma, Wande Coal, and Phyno. Chidinma and Phyno also appeared on Flavour's album, Ijele the Traveler, which was released in 2017. One year later, Flavour collaborated with Umu Obiligb on Awele and teamed up with Diamond Platnumz for the international hit single "Time to Party."
