The Last Ten Seconds Of Life

A Pennsylvania-bred nu-metal-cum-deathcore band with a relentless, ferocious attack -- and a name taken from a Smiths song -- the Last Ten Seconds of Life emerged in 2010 and have since become a major name in the region's underground rock scene with their emotionally intense and physically punishing sound. After a self-released debut album in 2011, the band signed first to Workhorse Music Group for the critically lauded Invivo (Exvivo) in 2013. 2016 saw a move to Siege of Amida for Violent Sound. They formed their own self-monikered label for 2019's digital-only Machina Non Grata, and signed to Unique Leader Records for an eponymously titled long-player in 2022. No Name Graves appeared in March 2024. The group formed in 2010 in Meadville, Pennsylvania, while the members were attending Mansfield University. The original lineup featured Storm Strope on vocals, Wyatt McLaughlin and Casey Quick on guitars, Thomas Giamanco on bass, and Christian Fisher on drums. Despite the group's heavy sound, the Last Ten Seconds of Life borrowed their name from a Smiths lyric, and within a year of forming, they were touring regularly and had self-released their debut album, Know Your Exits. TLTSOL toured hard in support of the album, and by 2013 they had a new lineup: Quick was out, and McLaughlin handled all the guitar chores. Bassist Giamanco also left, replaced first Anthony Madara then by Mike Menocker. The independent metal label Density Records signed TLTSOL, and their second album, Invivo (Exvivo), appeared in October 2013. As before, the group promoted it with plenty of live work, and toured with other high-impact metal acts such as I Declare War, Fit for an Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder, and Kublai Khan. In 2014, the band returned to Atrium Audio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania -- where Invivo [Exvivo] was created -- to begin work on their next album. When TLTSOL's third album, Soulless Hymns, arrived in January 2015, it quickly became the group's biggest success to date, debuting at number 22 on Billboard's Hard Rock Albums charts and number 14 on the Heatseekers chart. In October 2015, TLTSOL announced that Storm Strope had left the band, and John Robert Centorrino, who had previously sung with My Bitter End, had been recruited to fill in for him during a concert tour later in the year. The band revealed that Centorrino had officially signed on as their new singer in May 2016, and a few months later, they returned to the studio to work on their next album. The Violent Sound was released in November 2016, and like its predecessor, it immediately jumped onto the Heatseekers Chart at number 14. The group's fifth studio long-player, the hard-hitting, digital-only, self-released Machina Non Grata, was released in 2019. Following U.S. tours and the pandemic, the band signed to Unique Leader Records and emerged with a self-titled long-player in January 2022. In March, Centorrino, Menocker, and drummer Steven Sanchez all quit without explanation. Later in the year, a new lineup featuring vocalist Tyler Beam, bassist Andrew Petway, and drummer Dylan Potts replaced them. In October, TLTSOL released a new song and video for "Annihilation Phenomena"; it was featured on November's Disquisition on an Execution EP. In early 2024, this version of the band issued the long-player No Name Graves, co-produced by veterans Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland. The single "Saint No More" featured a guest spot by Ben Mason of Bound in Fear on vocals. "Letania Infernalis" and the title track also included guest spots from Sanguisugabogg and Suffocation, respectively.
