Oscar Ortiz

Oscar Ortiz is known for an open approach to style, often blending tuneful songwriter pop, Latin pop, and rhythmic regional Mexican music. He wrote lyrics for his older brothers Gerardo and Kevin Ortiz before making his recording debut with "Anillos," a duet with Oscar Maydon, in 2023. He quickly followed it with his first EP, 23/7, and the Billboard Hot 100-charting Edgardo Nuñez collaboration "First Love" before the end of the year. Óscar Josué Ortiz Medina was born into a musical family in Tijuana, Mexico, in 2002. He and his four older brothers grew up singing and playing multiple instruments, and two of his siblings, Kevin and Grammy nominee Gerardo, were already Latin pop stars when Oscar began building a large social media following. He was still a preteen when he started sharing photos of his everyday life, which for him included things like fashion and brushes with celebrities. Oscar eventually started uploading performances where he sang while playing piano or guitar. By the early 2020s, he was writing the lyrics for songs such as Gerardo Ortiz's "Estar con Otra," Kevin's "En Qué Momento," and Luis Coronel's "Mi Motivo." Oscar Ortiz made his recording debut with the Oscar Maydon collaboration "Anillos" in April 2023. It proved to be a busy, career-changing year for Ortiz, as he followed it with collaborations with Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra and his brother Kevin ("Viento en la Sierra") before releasing his debut EP, 23/7, in August. There were more non-EP songs to come before the end of the year, namely "ALVRGZO" (with Alex Favela and Código FN) and the Edgardo Nuñez duet "First Love." The latter track went on to chart as high as number 11 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart while also cracking the Hot 100, where it peaked at 91. He kicked off 2024 with "Ice Cream" featuring Los Mismos De La M.
