John Vincent III

John Vincent III is an Americana artist with a penchant for pairing soulful folk-pop melodies with vulnerable lyrics. His homespun 2019 debut, Songs from the Valley, elicited acclaim for its bucolic soundscapes and relatable prose, while his evocative 2023 sophomore effort, Songs for the Canyon, trafficked in a more polished Americana pop sound. Raised in Akron, Ohio, and based out of Houston and Los Angeles, John Vincent III began his music career in 2014. Citing Bon Iver, the Districts, and the Doors as early inspirations, he issued the EP Mountain Sounds in 2015 and further refined his expressive lyricism and rhythmic guitar work on 2016's full-length High Ridge & Stones. He broke into the mainstream with 2019's Songs from the Valley, which included the streaming hit "Next to You." When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the following year, Vincent and his girlfriend hit the road, spending eight months driving around the country in their Ford transit van. Released in 2023, Songs for the Canyon, co-produced by Vincent with Tom Elmhirst (Adele, David Bowie), distilled those experiences into songs, delivering heartfelt ruminations on love, life, loss, and hope that anchored his Americana influences in the communal sunshine folk-rock of the ‘60s Laurel Canyon scene.
