Evership

Evership is a melodic progressive rock group led by composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer/engineer Shane Atkinson. Based out of Nashville, the group combines the technical prowess and epic scope of bands like Yes and King Crimson with the stadium rock hooks of Styx, Kansas, and Led Zeppelin. They issued their eponymous debut in 2016, with Evership II and The Uncrowned King: Act 1 arriving in 2018 and 2021, respectively. The foundation for Evership began taking shape in 2005, when Shane Atkinson, who had worked as a Nashville session musician in the '80s and '90s, built his own studio and started a commercial and film music production company to fund the project's debut album. After recording a slew of demos, Atkinson began working in earnest in 2013, enlisting help from vocalist Beau West, bassist Jaymi Millard, guitarist and brother James Atkinson, and classical composer Charles Heimermann. The immersive Evership, released in 2016, drew accolades in the progressive rock community. Atkinson tweaked the lineup ahead of the group's sophomore effort, retaining James on guitar and West on vocals while recruiting Ben Young on bass and Chapman Stick, and John Rose on rhythm electric, classical, acoustic, and slide guitars. The resulting Evership II arrived in 2018 and featured a live orchestra and more choral work from Heimermann. In 2019, Atkinson began working on his most ambitious project to date: a two-part rock opera based on The Uncrowned King, a 1910 literary work by American author Harold Bell Wright. The first installment, The Uncrowned King: Act 1, appeared in 2021.
